Behind a double-double from senior 
Jill Edwards on Saturday afternoon, the Shippensburg University volleyball team managed to escape from West Chester with a back-and-forth five-set victory from the Golden Rams's Hollinger Fieldhouse. Set scores were 25-18, 7-25, 25-13, 13-25 and 15-11.
Edwards posted a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs while sophomore 
Taylor Gottshall added eight kills as the Raiders (22-7, 14-3 PSAC) exchanged sets with the Golden Rams (13-15, 5-12) before winning the tie-breaking fifth set with an Edwards kill.
The Raiders were impressive on the block, posting 26 block assists and seven solo blocks. Sophomore 
Faith Athey recorded nine total blocks while Gottshall and freshman 
Maura Nolan (33 assists) each tallied five.
Freshman 
Annie Goerl added five kills on 12 total attacks for a team-high .417 hitting percentage while Athey and freshman 
Gabbie Holt each had six kills.
Sophomore 
Laura Plank led SU with 13 digs.
The Raiders return home on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match against Millersville that begins a four-match home stand.
