Men’s Swimming Drops Home Dual Meet to IUP, 165-91

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's swimming team dropped a dual meet to conference rival IUP on Saturday afternoon inside Donald N. Miller Pool, 165-91.

Shippensburg recorded four swims that satisfied the conference qualifying standards. Sophomore Stefan Szilagyi was the runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly with a PSAC cut of 54.25 seconds. Fellow sophomore Jake Dunnigan completed the 400-yard individual medley in 4:26.23, and freshman Elijah Goldman posted PSAC cuts in the 500- (4:55.65) and 1000-yard freestyle (10:20.93).

SU also had two other runner-up finishers. Freshman Braxton Erne took second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.09 seconds while fellow rookie Shaun Smith posted a second-place time of 50.22 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle.

Shippensburg will taper over the next two-plus weeks in advance of its all-important weekend at George Mason. The Patriot Invitational will be held Nov.21-23, with 10 a.m. preliminary and 6 p.m. evening finals sessions each day.
