2014-15 (Junior): Excelled as a butterfly swimmer for the Raiders in his third season with the team…qualified for his first PSAC finals, taking seventh in the 200 butterfly, while also placing 10th individually in the 100 butterfly at the conference championships…contributed to both of the team’s medley relays at the conference meet…established new career bests in both butterfly events and in the 200 backstroke at the PSAC Championships…his turn in the 100 butterfly ranks fourth in school history, while his 200 butterfly swim ranks seventh in school history…also competed in the 200-yard backstroke at the conference meet…was SU’s pacesetter in both butterfly events…served as the treasurer of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), organizing numerous on-campus events and helping to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
2013-14 (Sophomore): Maintained his status as an integral scoring performer for the Raiders in his second season with the team…posted a personal best in the 100 butterfly at the PSAC Championships that slotted as the fourth-fastest time in school history and earned him an 11th-place finish…also grabbed an 11th-place finish in the 200 butterfly…set PRs in both butterfly events and in the 100 backstroke at the PSAC Championships…also competed in the 200 backstroke at the league championships…contributed to three scoring relays at the conference championships, including a fifth-place finish with the 200 freestyle unit…posted the team’s fastest times of the season in both butterfly events while ranking second in both backstroke events.
2012-13 (Freshman): Posted a PSAC place-winning performance in the 100 butterfly (10th) as a debut competitor with the Raiders…contributed to PSAC place-winning performances in the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays…established the majority of his personal bests at the Patriot Invitational…also represented the Raiders at the conference championships in the 100 and 200 backstroke.
Bloomsburg Area High School: Excelled in the butterfly for the Panthers under head coach Mark Barnes…has achieved PIAA All-State accolades…placed sixth at the PIAA ‘AA’ state meet in the 100-yard butterfly and eighth at the PIAA ‘AA’ state meet in the 100-yard backstroke…won a PIAA District 4 championship…posted a career best in the 100 butterfly of 52.27 seconds…swims the backstroke and freestyle as well…competes with Bloomsburg Area YMCA under coach Chuck LaCroix…also plays baseball.
About Szilagyi: Full name is Stefan Michael Szilagyi…is the son of Gary and Pamela Szilagyi…majoring in exercise science while seeking minors in chemistry and biology…has two siblings: Alek and Vanessa.
