SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The PSAC Eastern Division Champion Shippensburg University volleyball team will host East No. 4 seed Millersville at 7 p.m. Tuesday from Heiges Field House in a PSAC Quarterfinal from Heiges Field House. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools in the PSAC Tournament.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $2 for students. Students from PSAC schools and individuals PSAC passes receive free admission with proper identification.
Shippensburg (27-8, 18-4) achieved its third PSAC Eastern Division title in the last 20 years, with all three divisional crowns (2013, 2007, 2004) coming under the direction of head coach
Leanne Piscotty. SU will be making its seventh-straight appearance in the PSAC Tournament and has gone 3-2 in its last five conference quarterfinal matches.
The Raiders defeated Millersville (16-15, 11-11) in both meetings between the two schools this season, winning in straight sets on October 8 (25-17, 26-24, 27-25 at MU) and November 5 (25-19, 25-16, 25-18 at SU). Shippensburg has hit .185 and served 16 aces in the two matchups this season while limiting the Marauders to a .048 hitting percentage.
While the two teams have faced each other regularly in conference play, Millersville and Shippensburg have not met in the PSAC Tournament in more than 20 years.
A Raider victory would secure hosting rights for the PSAC Semifinals and PSAC Championship game at Heiges Field House. SU would host either California (West No. 2 seed) or Seton Hill (West No. 3 seed) at 7:30 p.m. Friday with a win, while a loss on Tuesday would leave SU's postseason fate in the hands of the regional rankings committee. SU entered this week ranked No. 6 in the Atlantic Region.
