The Shippensburg University volleyball team wrapped up its regular season on Saturday afternoon with a four-set road victory over PSAC Eastern Division opponent Pitt-Johnstown. Set scores were 25-20, 22-25, 25-20 and 25-20.
The Raiders (27-8, 18-4 PSAC) finished their PSAC slate with a single-season school record 18 conference wins as two Raiders had double-doubles on Saturday while three others posted double-digit digs totals.
Senior
Jill Edwards led Shippensburg with 18 kills and 14 digs and freshman
Maria Peluso recorded 15 kills and 12 digs.
Edwards became just the second player in PSAC history to achieve 2,000 career kills. In 137 career matches, Edwards has totaled 2,010 kills and hit .229 from the floor.
Sophomore
Laura Plank and freshman
Maura Nolan recorded 12 digs apiece while freshman
Gabbie Holt added 10.
Taylor Gottshall played well defensively, posting a match-high six total blocks to her impressive season total (108).
Gottshall led all players with a .389 hitting percentage on 20 attacks while sophomore
Faith Athey (.389), Edwards (.333), Nolan (.333) and Peluso (.324) also swatted north of .300.
The No. 1 seed in the East, SU will host a PSAC Quarterfinal match on Tuesday evening against No. 4-seed Millersville at 7 p.m.
