SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team utilized three first-half goals on its way to a 4-0 victory on Friday afternoon over Pitt-Johnstown at David See Field.
Redshirt-junior
Kate Zech netted the game's first tally in the 19th minute to start the scoring for Shippensburg (10-4, 9-4 PSAC). The goal by Zech was her third of the season as she now has a team-leading nine points on the year, tying her total from last year.
Senior
Rachel Hess notched her first goal of the season in the 29th minute after receiving a helper from junior
Brooke Clippinger. Sophomore
Brianna Brancato rounded out the first-half scoring with a goal in the 31st minute after being set up by
Danielle Nauman on the play. The assist by Nauman is her first career point as a Raider.
SU received its fourth and final goal in the 76th minute when a centering pass by the Raiders deflected off a UPJ defender and rolled into the net. The goal was credited as a team goal for the Raiders.
Shippensburg out-shot Pitt-Johnstown (0-14, 0-14) 36-1 and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior goalkeeper
Shelbie Rackley made one save and recorded her conference-leading eighth clean sheet of the season as she improves to 10-4.
The Raiders return to action tomorrow afternoon at David See Field as they face Seton Hill at 3:30 p.m. in a conference tilt.
