SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University football team seeks its fifth consecutive win on Saturday afternoon when it hosts PSAC Eastern Division rival Kutztown in a 1 p.m. contest from SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium in conjunction with the second annual "Donate Life" event.

Shippensburg athletics is teaming up with the Gift of Life donor program, the region's organ and tissue transplant network. Information tables will be set up at both entrances of Seth Grove Stadium to provide educational information about organ and tissue donation and afford individuals an opportunity to register as a new donor who is willing to spread the gift of life onto others.

A student radio broadcast of the game between the Red Raiders (4-2, 3-0 PSAC East) and Golden Bears (1-5, 1-2) will be available on 88.7 FM in Shippensburg and can be accessed online at www.wsyc.org. Perry Mattern returns as the play-by-play voice of the Red Raiders while Jimmy Wright will provide commentary.

Live video coverage of the game will be provided by Shippensburg University's student television station (SUTV) and can be accessed online at www.ship.edu/goraiders. An archive of the game can also be accessed there. The game will also be shown on terrestrial television on Comcast community access channel 21 and campus channel 82.

Shippensburg entered 2013 as the preseason favorite in the PSAC Eastern Division for the first time in school history after an 11-2 season in which it reached the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. Kutztown was picked to finish fourth in the PSAC Eastern Division Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing tied for third in the division with a 4-3 record (7-4 overall) last season, highlighted by wins in six of its final seven games of the season.

Shippensburg returned 29 letter-winners from last season, including eight starters on defense, six on offense and its two kicking specialists. Kutztown returned 14 starters, including five All-PSAC East performers.

Game Background

• The Red Raiders used a career rushing effort from junior running back Blair Brooks and a 15-catch performance from junior wide receiver Trevor Harman last Saturday to stave off a second-half rally from a resilient Lock Haven squad in a 30-24 road win. The six-point winning margin was the smallest winning margin in an SU game (by either opponent) in the last three seasons — a span of 30 contests.

• Brooks ran for a career-high 145 yards on 16 carries — with four clutch totes, including a game-clinching 14-yard first-down run on the final drive. Harman totaled 122 receiving yards and a touchdown as his 15 catches were the second-most in a single game in school history (he holds the school record with 18 grabs).

• Also on Saturday, Kutztown used 28 opening points to guide it to a 35-19 home victory against Cheyney, giving first-year head coach Drew Folmar his first career victory and KU its first win of the season.

Series History: Red Raiders vs. Kutztown

• Shippensburg holds a 46-17-2 lead in the series history. SU has won 11 of the last 14 meetings, including two straight with an average of 61 points per win.

• The Red Raiders hold an impeccable 28-3 home record in the all-time series and have not lost to Kutztown at Seth Grove Stadium since 1995 (a span of eight consecutive wins). The two teams have met every year since 1984, with Shippensburg holding a 19-10 margin over that span.

• SU recently won eight straight from 1999-06 before KU took three in a four-year stretch from 2007-10.

• In last year's record-setting 73-35 SU victory, quarterback Zach Zulli and Harman tied PSAC single-game records with nine TD passes and five TD catches, respectively. The duo also set SU records with 46 completions, 61 attempts and 581 yards passing (Zulli) and 18 receptions and 288 yards receiving (Harman).

Success at Seth Grove

• The Red Raiders have tied a school record with 11 straight home victories dating back to the 2011 season. A 44-14 home victory over the Warriors on November 5, 2011 began the current run.

• During SU's 11-game home winning streak, the Red Raiders have outscored opponents by a 556-248 margin. Shippensburg has scored at least 36 points in all 11 of the victories.

• The mark ties the previous record of 11 games that began on September 26, 1925 (Dickinson JV) and lasted through October 1, 1927 (Georgetown Freshmen).

• Shippensburg won seven games last season playing at SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium — a program record and the school's first undefeated season at home since 1999.

• SU head coach Mark 'Mac' Maciejewski, currently in his third season, is 13-1 at Seth Grove Stadium. The only loss came against West Chester (52-17) on October 8, 2011.
