The Shippensburg University volleyball team extended its PSAC Eastern Division winning streak to four matches on Friday night with a road sweep of East Stroudsburg, defeating the Warriors inside Koehler Fieldhouse by set scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-18.
Shippensburg (12-6, 5-3 PSAC) swung .267 as a team and served a season-high 12 aces Friday night. SU also posted 9.5 blocks, limiting the opposition to a sub-.100 hitting percentage for the fourth straight time in PSAC East play.
Senior
Jill Edwards posted a match-high 14 kills and nine digs while hitting .385 in the match. Sophomore
Taylor Gottshall totaled seven blocks (one solo, six assisted) – her third-highest total of the season.
Freshman
Maura Nolan had a steady all-around match with three kills, three digs, a team-high three aces and 27 assists. Fellow freshman
Gabbie Holt had five block assists and five digs.
Sophomore
Faith Athey ripped five kills without an error and had three block assists. In four PSAC East matches this season, Athey has 29 kills on just six errors, leading to a .479 percentage in that span.
East Stroudsburg (5-15, 1-8) was paced offensively by Abby Welch, who had nine kills. The Warriors were held to a negative hitting percentage in the second set (seven kills, eight errors) and swung just .025 in the match.
Shippensburg remains on the road Saturday and will face Kutztown at 1 p.m. inside Keystone Arena. KU swept Millersville on Friday night.
