LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's lacrosse team played within two goals of No. 10 Lock Haven during the first half of Tuesday afternoon's PSAC clash from Charlotte Smith Field but could not keep up in the final frame, dropping a 17-7 decision to the Lady Eagles.
Shippensburg (7-6, 3-5 PSAC) held a 3-2 lead with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half on the strength of two goals from senior
Lauren Hauck and another by junior
Roxanne Brown before the host Eagles responded with three goals in a two-minute span.
SU quickly tied the score at 5-5 with unassisted tallies from sophomore
Bennett Widlake and senior
Jessica Schubach, but LHU countered with two more tallies before the end of the half to lead at the intermission.
Lock Haven (9-4, 7-1 PSAC), which honored its nine seniors before the game, was in total control during the second half. The Lady Eagles opened the frame with nine consecutive goals in 23 minutes to build a sizable advantage. Junior
Sarah Chrencik and Brown each scored in the waning moments of regulation, but it was not enough for a comeback.
The Raiders were strong on the draw and came up with 12 of the 25 draw controls in the contest. Schubach, sophomore

Liz French all had multiple draw controls in the game. Kennedy contributed two assists while Ruberti and French each had two groundballs.
Senior
Ali Cross was valiant in goal, making eight saves and recording three caused turnovers from the scoring arc.
Shippensburg will host a pair of PSAC games this weekend. SU will entertain Mercyhurst at 3 p.m. Friday from Robb Sports Complex. On Saturday, the Raiders will hold Senior Day at 3 p.m. before taking on Gannon.
