SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's tennis team won its first match of the 2011-12 season on Friday afternoon with a 9-0 defeat of Cheyney from the Robb Sports Complex tennis courts.

Juniors Cassie Sidone and Lisa Snader and freshman Kat Werner each picked up their first singles victories of the season with 6-0, 6-0 wins.

Freshman Julia Saintz, sophomore Hannah Wolfe and junior Laura Babetski also swept their singles matches to pick up their second victories of the season.

In doubles action, Werner and Saintz, Sidone and Snader and Wolfe and freshman Kaitlyn Erickson all earned 8-0 victories.

Shippensburg will travel tomorrow to face Millersville at 1:30 p.m. from the McComsey Tennis Courts.
