SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's volleyball team honored its five seniors in between solid straight-set victories over Cheyney and Shepherd on Saturday afternoon from Heiges Field House. Set scores against the Wolves were 25-15, 25-8 and 25-7 while set scores against the Rams were 25-17, 25-19 and 25-22.

Rachel Smicker were each recognized in pre-match ceremonies.
Shippensburg improved to 21-9 overall, its most wins in one season since 2008 despite there being seven matches remaining in the regular season. SU also ran its PSAC Eastern Division record to 9-4, leaving the Raiders one game behind Lock Haven but now five games ahead of third-place West Chester.
The Raiders will travel Tuesday night to face Millersville at 7 p.m. before hitting the road Friday to face Kutztown at 7 p.m.

Freshman
Taylor Gottshall led all players with 10 kills and hit .714 from the floor to pace the Raider attack. Junior
Samantha Edwards added six kills and like Gottshall, did not have an attack error, resulting in a .600 hitting percentage.

Cristen Harris each provided seven kills, while freshman
Lauren Hess served up four aces and had five digs.
Freshman
Natasha Gibble served as the setter and provided 22 assists, five service aces, three digs, two kills and two block assists. Edwards started the match as the libero and ultimately led SU with nine digs.
SU trailed in the opening set 10-4 before using a 10-1 to claim the lead en route to winning the first set. A 15-1 run keyed the second set for the Raiders before SU closed out the match with the final six points of the third set coming off Gibble's serve.
Cheyney got six kills from Denise Hill and four from Kennetha Wallace. The Wolves totaled just 14 attack errors in the match but struggled off Shippensburg's serve.

Junior
Jill Edwards impressed with a match high 16 kills and hit .256 for the Raiders in addition to eight digs.
Jill Edwards also served up three aces as a part of a key second-set sequence that helped SU build its lead from 7-6 to 12-6.
Pry had seven kills, four digs and three block assists while Gottshall delivered three kills, one solo block and four block assists.
Heimsoth chipped in with 32 assists, five digs and a pair of block assists while Murphy led the Raiders with 10 digs. Flick impressed with seven kills, three aces and three blocks.
