Volleyball Falls on Road to WVIAC Leader No. 17 Wheeling Jesuit in Straight Sets

Taylor Gottshall records six kills and hits .312; Cristen Harris adds seven kills

The Shippensburg University women's volleyball team fell in straight sets on the road at WVIAC leader and No. 17-ranked Wheeling Jesuit on Tuesday night. Set scores were 16-25, 16-25 and 19-25.

Freshmen Cristen Harris and Taylor Gottshall led the Raiders (18-9), recording seven and six kills, respectively. Gottshall posted a team-high .312 hitting percentage on 16 attacks.

Harris also had a team-high 13 digs while senior Lauren Murphy and junior Jill Edwards each had double-digit digs with 12 and 10, respectively.

Senior Andrea Heimsoth accounted for 18 assists. Heimsoth, Gottshall, Jill Edwards and freshman Faith Athey each had three total blocks.

Wheeling Jesuit (22-2) received double-digit kills from Allissa Ware (14) and Abby Wietrzykowski (11).

The Raiders return home on Friday for a 7 p.m. PSAC match against West Chester from Heiges Field House.
