SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 2 Shippensburg University field hockey team set a school record for goals in a game on a hot and humid Sunday afternoon in a 12-0 victory over Southern Connecticut State, the last game of its season-opening host tournament.

Senior Kristina Taylor scored four goals to lead the Raiders (2-0), who have outscored their opponents 19-0 so far this season. It was Taylor's second four-goal game of her career and first since 2009. Bre White continued her torrid pace to begin her sophomore campaign, posting her second hat trick of the weekend.

Freshman twin sisters Brittany Jett and Megan Jett connected on the team's eighth goal of the afternoon and the last of the first half, with Megan scoring off an assist from Brittany. Megan added another goal in the second half to go along with an assist.

Senior Katie Pufnock contributed a goal and two assists, junior Ashley Taylor and freshman Rosey Tuttle also scored and three different players - sophomore Lauren Taylor, senior Jenna Stine and freshman Tori Ricker, contributed assists.

In goal, sophomore Carenna Neely earned her first career start, with junior Ciarra Delost taking over the reigns after halftime. The duo combined for the shutout and faced zero SCSU (0-1) shots.

The previous record for goals in a game for the Raiders was 10, set twice, on Oct. 22, 2009 vs. Seton Hill and Oct. 18, 2005 vs. Mansfield.

SU heads to Bloomsburg on Tuesday for a crucial early-season battle in its conference opener. The Huskies and Raiders were each picked to win their respective PSAC divisions in the preseason coaches poll. The game starts at 4 p.m., and it is the first time the two field hockey powerhouses have met since Shippensburg took down Bloomsburg, 1-0, in the national semifinals in December to end the Huskies' season.
