Box Score
BUCKHANNON, W.V. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision on Saturday morning to West Virginia Wesleyan, the squad picked to win the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) in its preseason coaches poll.

Just over 13 minutes into the game, West Virginia Wesleyan's Olivia Peduzzi put a goal past Raider sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Wood off of a corner kick. Wood made two saves during the period, while the offense struggled in mustering just one shot.

The unit improved slightly in the second half with three shots on goal, but none found the back of the net. What made the offensive struggles particularly frustrating for the Raiders was that their defense played admirably in the second frame, not allowing a single West Virginia Wesleyan shot on goal.

Freshman forward Michal Sanders (Waynesboro/Waynesboro) led the Raiders with three shots, while Wood played all 90 minutes in her first start and game appearance since posting a shutout versus Davis & Elkins on Sept. 28 last season.

SU gets back to the pitch at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Shepherd.
