SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 3 Shippensburg University field hockey team scored three times in the opening 17 minutes of Wednesday afternoon's PSAC Western Division matchup against No. 5 IUP and held the visitors without a shot on goal in a convincing 4-0 victory over the Crimson Hawks from Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (6-2, 2-0 PSAC West) extended its streak of consecutive PSAC Western Division victories to 20 games by establishing offensive pressure that never relented. Just over 10 minutes into the contest, senior Kristina Taylor fired home the first goal of the game to put SU on the scoreboard.

Less than two minutes later, sophomore Lauren Taylor made a beautiful aerial redirect of an entry feed by sophomore Bre White for another Raider goal. Kristina Taylor added her 10th goal of the season at the 16:25 mark off a pass from junior Taylor Jones. Shippensburg's three goals came in a 5:42 span.

The lone goal of the second half was scored by Jones off a penalty corner. Junior Ashley Taylor sent a pass to Jones, who fired a rocket toward the net that caromed off an IUP defender's thigh and into the cage. Jones has totaled 10 points in the last four games.

The Raiders posted an 18-2 advantage in shots and an 18-3 advantage in penalty corners.

IUP (5-2, 2-1 PSAC West) got five first-half saves from Sarah Lemieux and a second-half stop by backup Brittany Varacallo. The Crimson Hawks only recorded three penalty corners in the match, all of which were taken with less than 20 minutes to play.

The Raiders host Mansfield at noon Saturday from Robb Sports Complex. The team is holding a canned food drive and is asking fans to bring any non-perishable food items to the game. All donations will be provided to the King's Kettle food bank in Shippensburg.
