SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Senior
Kristina Taylor scored two goals and junior
Jamie Levy and sophomore
Lauren Taylor each scored their firsts of the season en route to a Shippensburg field hockey 6-0 shutout of East Stroudsburg on Saturday afternoon from Robb Sports Complex.
After a tight 15 minutes of play, the No. 4-ranked Raiders (5-2) grabbed a 1-0 lead off of an unassisted shot from Levy, who gathered a loose ball in the circle for the score. SU tallied another goal over 11 minutes later when sophomore
Bre White found
Katie Pufnock waiting on the side of the cage. The senior connected on her ninth goal of the season, making the contest the fourth consecutive in which she has scored.
White added an unassisted goal of her own just 52 seconds into the second half. The sophomore added two more assists, both on goals by
Kristina Taylor, who had been active in the circle all afternoon before finally finding the back of the cage. It was the second game this season that White has connected on three assists.
Lauren Taylor wrapped up SU''s scoring at the 58-minute mark with the first goal of her sophomore campaign, from an assist by junior
Ashley Taylor.
The Warriors (2-4) came in Saturday after having won a 6-5 shootout over Mansfield on Friday night. The Shippensburg defense limited ESU's forwards to just two total shots in the contest and just three penalty corners. Junior
Ciarra Delost earned the start in goal and grabbed her only save of the game toward the end of the first half.
SU has three days off before hosting Indiana (Pa.) at 4 p.m. Wednesday from Robb Sports Complex.
