Box Score
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Senior
Brittany Hibshman scored two goals, including the game winner, on Friday, as the Shippensburg University women's soccer team beat Lock Haven in a high-scoring 3-2 affair from David See Field.
Hibshman kicked off the scoring for the Raiders (3-1-2, 1-0-1) after over 25 minutes of scoreless play for both teams. She capitalized on a loose ball situation in the box, sending a shot past the outstretched Lock Haven (0-3, 0-2) goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
The Bald Eagles knotted it at 1-1 going into halftime, but freshman
Michal Sanders broke the tie just over six minutes into the second frame by scoring her first career goal. Junior
Cassie Armold sparked the scoring play when she sent a through ball into the box that deflected off of the Eagles' goalkeeper to Sanders, who cashed it in.
Less than three minutes later, Hibshman scored the game-winner when she racked up her second tally of the afternoon with a header off an assist from junior
Katie Leverentz. Hibshman now leads the team with three goals on the season.
The Raiders' defense had to withstand a late Lock Haven rally after the Eagles pulled to within one with a goal at the 67th minute. Sophomore
Shelbie Rackley stood tall in goal and finished the game with just one save in her fifth start of the season.
