was selected to the 2010-11 Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's At Large First Team for the College Division of District 2, which encompasses all Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior colleges in the states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

By virtue of her selection to the First Team, Brooks will now advance to the national Academic All-America At-Large ballot. The women's at-large award includes nominees in the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.

It is the second straight year that Brooks has been recognized by the nation's sports information directors. Last year, Brooks was selected to the Academic All-District Second Team. She also received a PSAC Fall Top 10 award in January.

Brooks is a management and marketing major who graduated this month with a 3.98 cumulative quality-point average at Shippensburg. Last November, Brooks became the first athlete in all divisions of the NCAA to receive two Elite 88 awards in the same sport. The NCAA Elite 88 award is bestowed upon a student-athlete who boasts the highest cumulative grade-point average among all of the athletes at the site of a national championship competition.

In her final collegiate field hockey season, Brooks was one of three captains that helped the Lady Raiders set a school record for victories in a season and advance to the 2010 NCAA Division II Field Hockey championship game against Massachusetts-Lowell. She started all 23 of the team's games and helped limit UML's top forwards to just two shots and no goals in the national championship game.

Brooks was a leader on a defensive unit that allowed just 20 goals in 23 games this season, including nine shutouts. Shippensburg was 20-0 in the regular season and finished with a 21-2 record. For her career, Brooks appeared in 78 games with the Lady Raiders.

An extremely bright student, Brooks received the 2010-11 Clarence Schock Foundation Fellowship award – which is given annually to one student each from Cheyney, Kutztown, Millersville, West Chester and Shippensburg that provides tuition for a full year.

In addition to Brooks, senior women's swimmer Amy Fisher was also selected to the 2010-11 Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's At Large First Team for the College Division of District 2.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) select Academic All-America® teams in 12 programs. A first team and second team are selected in both the University (Division I and I-AA) and College (Division II, III and NAIA) Divisions.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
