WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Shippensburg University tennis team picked up its first victory of the 2010-11 season Thursday afternoon with a 9-0 divisional victory over Cheyney. Sophomore Cassie Sidone earned a victory at No. 1 singles and teamed with freshman Hannah Wolfe for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.

Sophomore Lisa Snader and freshman Ruthie Kane blanked their opponents at No. 2 doubles before earning singles wins – Snader earned a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 2 singles while Kane swept her rival at No. 5 singles.

Freshman Daniela Delgado and freshman Michelle Itkin also picked up two wins a-piece. The duo earned an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles. Delgado swept her opponent at No. 4 singles while Itkin earned a 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

Sophomore Laura Babetski earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles.

On Saturday, Shippensburg will head to Bloomsburg for a morning matchup with East Stroudsburg and an afternoon match against the host Huskies.
