ERIE, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's lacrosse team was tied with No. 10 Gannon after the first 20 minutes of Saturday's rainy contest, but the Raiders allowed six goals before halftime in a decisive run that jumpstarted the Golden Knights to a 21-8 victory.

Shippensburg (7-8, 3-7 PSAC) fell behind 4-0 but scored five of the game's next goals to knot the match at 5-5. Senior Katie Brewer opened the scoring for the Raiders and was one of five unique goal scorers along with junior Lauren Hauck, sophomore Lindsey Kennedy, senior Karen Schnurr and junior Jessica Schubach.

Gannon (11-4-1, 7-3 PSAC) turned the tables with six goals in a 9-minute, 52-second span to hold a comfortable lead at halftime. Both teams scored a goal in the first five minutes of the second half before the Golden Knights exploded with a seven-goal run to take control.

Brewer, Hauck and Schubach added tallies in the second half. Kennedy won three draw controls and had two groundball pickups; freshman Liz French matched Kennedy on draws and freshman Carly Ruberti paced the Raiders with four groundball pickups.

Junior Meghan Kearney made 13 saves in the loss.

Shippensburg's last game of the 2011 regular season will be Thursday at 4 p.m. from Millersville.
