ERIE, Pa. –
Junior Jessica Schubach scored a career-high six goals on Friday afternoon but the Shippensburg University women's lacrosse team could not overcome No. 12 Mercyhurst, dropping a 19-14 decision to the perennially strong Laker squad.

Shippensburg (7-7, 3-6 PSAC) fell behind early, allowing four goals in the first four minutes and nine tallies in the first 28 minutes. Schubach had a hat trick by the intermission, but SU trailed 10-5 at halftime.

Senior Katie Brewer had a strong offensive afternoon with four goals – fellow senior Karen Schnurr added two tallies.

Freshman Liz French continued her persistence in the circle with five draw controls. Sophomore Lindsey Kennedy had a goal and three draw controls while sophomore Roxanne Brown added a tally of her own.

Junior Meghan Kearney made nine saves in the loss.

On Saturday, Shippensburg will remain in Erie to face Gannon at 1 p.m.
