Volleyball Wraps Up 2011 Season With PSAC Quarterfinal Loss at Lock Haven, 3-0

Woffindin and Bauer conclude Raider playing careers, Flick leads SU with seven kills

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team could not overcome the powerful attack of Eastern Division No. 1 seed Lock Haven on Tuesday night from Thomas Fieldhouse as it concluded its 2011 season with a 3-0 PSAC quarterfinal loss to the Bald Eagles by set scores of 20-25, 12-25, 19-25.

Shippensburg (15-21) mustered just 26 kills in Tuesday's match – the third-lowest single-game total this season – while the host Bald Eagles ripped 44 kills and hit .297 as a team. Junior Erin Flick led SU with seven kills on just one attack error – hitting .400 – while junior Jenny Pry and senior Libby Woffindin each added six kills.

Woffindin was efficient in her attacks Tuesday, hitting .286 without an attack error. She also added two block assists and a service ace in the final match of her collegiate career. Overall, in 137 career matches, Woffindin amassed a school record 273 career block assists in addition to 340 total blocks, 971 kills and 122 career aces.

Tuesday was also the final match for senior Lauren Bauer, who amassed 90 digs and 36 aces in 76 career matches with the Raiders. Bauer recorded a dig and played in all three sets Tuesday night.

Junior Andrea Heimsoth had team highs of 21 assists and 16 digs in addition to a solo block and two block assists. Junior Lauren Murphy and sophomore Jill Edwards each had double-digit digs with 14 and 10, respectively.
