SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team clinched a berth in the PSAC tournament for the fifth consecutive season Friday night from Koehler Fieldhouse with a straight-set victory over East Stroudsburg. Set scores were 25-14, 25-18 and 25-20.
Shippensburg (15-19, 8-10 PSAC) is currently the fourth seed in the PSAC Eastern Division heading into the final day of the regular season. If the Raiders defeat current No. 1 seed Lock Haven on Saturday and No. 2 seed Kutztown were to defeat No. 3 seed West Chester, then Shippensburg would earn the No. 3 seed in next week's tournament on the virtue of the league's second tiebreaker: victories over the top seed in the division.
Sophomore
Jill Edwards led the way for Shippensburg with 11 kills on just one error. Sophomore
Samantha Edwards added six kills – her third-highest single-game output of the season, while senior
Libby Woffindin contributed three service aces, two solo blocks and two block assists.
SU totaled nine blocks as a team – including two block assists from junior
Erin Flick and a solo block by junior
Jenny Pry.
Junior
Andrea Heimsoth contributed 32 assists and junior
Lauren Murphy added 15 digs.
Shippensburg will take on Lock Haven tomorrow at 1 p.m. from Thomas Fieldhouse.
