SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team honored seniors Libby Woffindin and Lauren Bauer before its regular season home finale on Wednesday night from Heiges Field House and ultimately outlasted regional rival Shepherd, 3-2. Set scores were 26-28, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22 and 15-5.

Shippensburg (14-19) won in five sets for just the second time in 11 contests this season after completing a comeback with a crucial rally in the final frame. Holding a 6-4 lead, Bauer entered the match as the server and began a string of seven consecutive points that tilted the match in Shippensburg's favor.

Sophomore Jill Edwards ripped a game-high 23 kills to become the sixth player in school history to reach 1,000 career kills. Edwards hit .167 on Wednesday night but added eight digs and one service ace.

After struggling in the first two sets, Woffindin was excellent down the stretch – contributing eight kills and just one attack error in the final two sets. She finished the match with 14 kills and four total blocks while hitting .190.

Junior Erin Flick was efficient once again from the floor with 11 kills on just two errors, hitting an impressive .360 for the match. She had seven digs, one solo block and three block assists.

Fellow junior Jenny Pry was a fourth Raider in double figures for kills with 10. She hit .171 with five digs and two block assists.

Bauer has appeared in 73 matches in her career, including all 33 contests this season as a senior and team co-captain. She has performed well as a defensive specialist and worked well with serves, totaling 36 aces in her career. Lauren has served a career-high 15 aces this season. Bauer also works hard from the back row, having recorded 83 digs during her Raider tenure. Among that total is a career-high 45 digs this season.

Woffindin is an exemplary blocker who holds the Shippensburg University school record with 269 block assists in her career. Adding in 64 solo blocks, she has 333 total blocks in her career. On the attack, Libby has totaled 957 kills, including 276 this season. Libby is also strong on the serve, having totaled 118 aces in her career. She was an All-PSAC performer a season ago and has appeared in 134 career matches.

Shippensburg is on the road for its final two matches of the season. SU will try to clinch a spot in the PSAC tournament at 7 p.m. Friday when it travels to take on East Stroudsburg.
