SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's swim team had several of its returning swimmers produce solid times in its season-opening meet Friday night from Donald N. Miller Pool as the Raiders competed against defending PSAC champion West Chester.
“This is the best that we have competed in a season-opening meet in several seasons,” head coach
Tim Verge said after Friday's meet. “We had some phenomenal swims and this performance was a good start that should truly help us as we move forward.”

Sean Minford, junior
Eric Naylor and junior
Eddie LaNoue was victorious with a time of 1:38.97.
Naylor earned in individual victory in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.62 seconds and also was the runner-up in the 50 fly with a time of 24.33 seconds.
Among the other event winners was sophomore
Ryan Westley, who impressed the onlookers with a victory in the 50-yard backstroke after touching the wall in 25.33 seconds. Senior
Evan Manning achieved a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.78.
LaNoue completed his first 50-yard freestyle of the year in 21.95 seconds, a time that equaled West Chester's Tommy Rhoads. Keefe also competed in the 50-yard butterfly and posted a time of 24.47 seconds.
Sophomore #R.J. Phiambolis# just missed a victory in the 200-yard individual medley after placing second in 2:03.92. Minford finished in 2:05.51. Phiambolis also placed third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.86.
Shippensburg returns to action Tuesday, October 18 at Bloomsburg.
