CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team was unable to maintain a halftime tie with unbeaten California (Pa.) – the top team in the PSAC – and lost a 4-1 decision in the Raiders' regular season finale.

Freshman Michal Sanders scored Shippensburg's (5-10-3, 3-9-2 PSAC) only goal with just under nine minutes remaining in the first half. The unassisted goal was Sanders' third on the season.

Despite being out-shot 10-3, the Raiders entered halftime tied with the Vulcans (15-0-2, 12-0-2) and became just the fourth team to score versus California this season.

The Raiders' chances of dealing the No. 4 team in the country its first loss of the season dwindled quickly in the second half, however. The Vulcans scored twice in just over the first 20 minutes of the period before adding their fourth goal at the 80th minute off of a corner kick.

SU entered the game having allowed just 17 goals on the season, which was tied with the 2002 squad for the fewest in a year. The 21 goals allowed by the 2011 Raiders, however, is still enough to tie them with the 2008 team for second fewest.

Saturday marked the final collegiate contest for seniors Emily Andrew, Brittany Hibshman and Samantha Stuart.
