SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's swimming team earned victories in seven events on Saturday afternoon from Donald N. Miller Pool inside Heiges Field House to achieve a 105-82 dual meet victory over the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State University.

Sophomore Julie Brown achieved her third PSAC qualifying cut of the season on Saturday – this time in the 200-yard freestyle, but her time of 1:58.86 was just 0.54 seconds short of the pace set by FSU's Alina Zakharava. Brown opened the day swimming the third leg of the victorious 400-yard medley relay along with seniors Kate Johnson, Rachael Ballard and Alyssa Boeggeman.

Junior Julia Brownrigg won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.66 that was just .05 seconds short of a PSAC qualifying standard. Brownrigg concluded the day by swimming the anchor leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay that featured freshmen Tara Yohe, Elli Ahearn and Jen Flinchbaugh that posted a time of 3:45.88.

Other individual winners included Johnson, who won the 100-yard backstroke, Ballard, who won the 200-yard breaststroke, and senior Kristen McCandless, who won the 100-yard freestyle. Freshman Jessica Trgovic set the pace in the 1,000-yard freestyle and sophomore Sarah Hanson won the 200-yard butterfly.

Shippensburg returns to action next weekend with a 6 p.m. dual meet on Friday at Clarion and a noon dual meet on Saturday at Edinboro.
