INDIANA, Pa. – Sophomore
Eric Naylor won the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard freestyle on Saturday afternoon from IUP as the Shippensburg men's swim team completed the final two sessions of the Crimson Hawk Dual Invite against rivals from Gannon, Bloomsburg and the hosts.
Naylor had two of five PSAC individual cuts for SU on Saturday. Senior
Tim Smullen finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:14.32; junior
Joe Keefe finished second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.03, and sophomore
Sean Minford posted a second-place time of 2:14.28 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
All three relays that competed on Saturday finished in second or third place. The 200-yard medley relay with Keefe, junior
Evan Manning, Naylor and Smullen finished second in 1:39.27.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Smullen joined sophomore
Eddie LaNoue, freshman #R.J. Phiambolis# and Naylor for a third-place time of 3:16.53. The 800-yard freestyle relay of senior
Josh Nyce, Minford, junior
Shawn Robbins and senior
Derek Yeager finished third in 7:31.45.
Shippensburg has concluded its regular season dual meet schedule and will next compete in the 2011 PSAC Swimming Championships. The annual four-day event will be held February 17-21 at Cumberland Valley High School in New Kingstown. Edinboro will serve as the host institution.
