NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Five different players scored goals for the No. 2 Shippensburg field hockey team on Saturday morning from Jess Dow Field as the Lady Raiders recorded an impressive 7-1 victory over the Owls of Southern Connecticut State.
Shippensburg (1-0) held a 28-10 advantage in shots and a 15-1 advantage in penalty corners. Junior
Katie Pufnock scored twice in the game off penalty corners and both tallies were assisted by sophomore
Ashley Taylor. Taylor and freshman
Bre White scored in the first half as SU held a 3-0 lead at intermission.
Freshman
Katie Shoop tallied her first collegiate goal by converting a rebound early in the second half. By the end of the game, all three Taylors on the squad had tallied a goal as junior

Lauren Taylor added tallies.
Lauren Taylor's goal was assisted by White.
In goal, sophomore
Ciarra Delost earned her first collegiate victory and recorded two saves. Junior
Alyssa Stefanadis appeared in relief.
SU has faced Southern Connecticut State annually since 2002 and has won every meeting, outscoring the Owls 54-8 in nine meetings.
Shippensburg faces St. Michael's at 1:30 p.m. Sunday from Jess Dow Field. The Purple Knights have lost the last seven meetings against the Lady Raiders by a combined 34-8 margin.
