INDIANA, Pa. - The Shippensburg University field hockey team once again established the tempo early on Wednesday afternoon from Miller Stadium, scoring less than five minutes into its match with PSAC Western Division rival IUP and building a 2-0 advantage by halftime en route to a 3-1 victory over the Crimson Hawks.

Shippensburg (7-0, 2-0 PSAC West) has established a 1-0 lead within the first seven minutes of every match this season and continued the streak Wednesday when freshman Bre White scored unassisted at the 4:38 mark.

With less than 10 minutes remaining in the half, junior Kristina Taylor caged a goal off an assist from senior Amanda Strous. SU held a 9-2 advantage in shots and a 7-2 advantage in penalty corners during the first half while Lady Raider sophomore goalkeeper Ciarra Delost was not forced to make a save in the opening 35 minutes.

White scored again in the second half, giving Shippensburg a 3-0 lead. IUP got its only goal of the match at 55:11 from Anouk Sickman. Crimson Hawk goalkeeper Lydia Dolly made seven saves in defeat, including six in the first half. Delost finished with two saves for SU.

The No. 1-ranked Lady Raider field hockey team continues its road trip Saturday at noon from Mansfield.
