LOCK HAVEN
, Pa. – Five different players scored goals on a balmy Friday afternoon from Hubert Jack Stadium as the Shippensburg University men's soccer team established a strong tempo early on and maintained that aggression with four second-half tallies in defeating Lock Haven, 5-0.

Shippensburg (3-4, 1-2 PSAC) has now won two out of its last three meetings with Lock Haven and recorded its first conference victory since the 2007 season, ending a 26-match winless streak against PSAC opponents. SU's last PSAC victory was a 4-2 win over Lock Haven on Oct. 6, 2007. The Red Raiders entered that game having gone winless in 21 straight matches with the Bald Eagles dating back to 1986.

SU got some vindication for its hard work at the end of the first half. In the 43rd minute, sophomore Alex Supplee sent a through ball that maneuvered through the Lock Haven defense and onto the foot of unmarked freshman Derrick Roy, who blasted a shot from 12 yards into the far corner.

The goal seemed to put a spark in the Red Raiders, and their resulting effort in the second half led to a completely one-sided match. SU recorded a 12-1 advantage in shots over the final 45 minutes. Less than eight minutes in to the second half, senior Miles Harriger picked up his team-leading third goal of the season off a feed from junior Simon Neubauer.

Hustle from sophomore Bill Heatherly contributed to the next two goals. His free kick in the 69th minute ended up as an assist when sophomore Logan Henke headed it in to put SU up 3-0. Freshman Oli Templeton scored his second tally of the year in the 72nd minute off a Heatherly feed.

Shippensburg chased Bald Eagle goalkeeper just a couple of minutes after sophomore Austin Hill scored his first career goal in the 77th minute off a corner kick by senior Scott Smith.

Lock Haven (2-5-2, 1-3-1 PSAC) mustered just one shot on goal in the contest and it was turned aside by SU sophomore goalkeeper Clay Sale, who achieved his second career shutout with the victory.

Through seven games in 2010, Shippensburg has outscored opponents 9-2 in the second half and recorded a 72-38 advantage in shots. SU has scored 16 goals and has already surpassed its goal total of the entire 2009 season (13).

Shippensburg stays on the road Saturday with a 4 p.m. contest at No. 13 Slippery Rock.
