MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The offense was still clicking for the Lady Raider softball team on Saturday afternoon with 27 hits in a PSAC Eastern Division doubleheader at Millersville, but the opponents also had their bats rolling as the Marauders totaled 14 runs to sweep Shippensburg, 6-5 and 8-6.

Shippensburg (7-15, 0-4 PSAC East) held a 5-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning of the opening game but the Marauders rallied for six runs off junior Dana Ward for a come-from-behind victory. The Lady Raiders had built their early advantage with a pair of two-run home runs by senior Lisamarie Ramagli and sophomore Abby Block. Ward, who drove in the other run of the opener with a single, allowed just one hit through the first five innings.

Millersville (13-12, 2-4 PSAC East) built a 4-0 lead in the first inning of the second game and never trailed despite several rallies by the Lady Raiders. The Marauders chased sophomore Emily Parkins in the first after recording two hits and drawing three walks to build their advantage.

Freshman Kiersten Darhower pitched 2.1 innings of relief and yielded just one hit, but that mistake was a two-run double by Deanna Schneiderreit that gave the Marauders a 6-1 advantage in the third. Sophomore Chelsea Kendall pitched the final three innings, allowing two runs, three hits and four walks.

Juniors Hope Cornell and Courtney Steele were the offensive superstars of the second game, as both players hit two home runs in the contest. Cornell also drew a walk to lead off the top of the seventh inning with SU down by two runs but was stranded on first base.

After hitting two doubles in the opener, Cornell finished the afternoon 4-for-7 at the plate with four extra-base hits and three RBIs. Steele was 4-for-8 on the afternoon and also added a double in the first game. Block also doubled in the nightcap. Shippensburg's 4-5-6 batters finished the afternoon with 10 hits and seven RBIs.

Junior Jill Mullan, the team's leadoff batter, had a double and a triple in the nightcap after stealing two bases in the opener. She had three hits on the afternoon to complement an RBI and a run scored. Senior Kiley Abersold had four hits for SU, including three in the nightcap, while sophomore Meg Lehman had three hits.

The Lady Raiders will stay on the road tomorrow with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Shepherd.
