Entering the game, Shippensburg had defeated the Warriors twice in the regular season. The two teams had met just once in the PSAC Tournament prior to Friday, with the Warriors earning a 2-1 overtime decision in the 2001 conference semifinals held at Lock Haven.
SU posted a 15-4 advantage in shots and a 16-2 advantage in penalty corners but had a hard time getting shots past Warrior goalkeeper Maureen Ordnung, who made eight saves in the contest. Sophomore
Ciarra Delost made two saves for Shippensburg.
