SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team took full advantage of an extra-man opportunity during the second half of its crucial PSAC match with No. 20 East Stroudsburg on Wednesday night from David See Field, netting a goal from senior
Dave Rostad in the 49th minute as the Raiders triumphed with a motivational 1-0 shutout of the Warriors.
Shippensburg (6-5, 1-2 PSAC) snapped a 12-match losing streak to the Warriors that dates back to Oct. 5, 2002, when the Raiders recorded a 3-2 double overtime win at East Stroudsburg. The victory marks just the third time that SU has defeated the Warriors over the last 15 years and the first time by shutout.

Early in the second half, the pressure led to the only scoring of the match. Rostad netted his second game winner of the season and his third overall to give the Raiders their decisive advantage. Sophomore
Clay Sale was not forced to make a save in the second half, tallying one for the match in recording his second straight shutout and third of the season.
Shippensburg will continue to fight for a PSAC playoff berth at 5 p.m. Saturday with a crucial road match from Bloomsburg.
