SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 1-ranked Shippensburg University field hockey team clinched the PSAC Western Division title for the second straight season and matched a school record for consecutive victories on Saturday afternoon from Robb Sports Complex with a 7-1 victory over Mansfield – SU's second win in three days over the Mountaineers.
Shippensburg (16-0, 7-0 PSAC West) has won 16 consecutive games to start the season, matching the feat accomplished by the 2005 squad that finished 20-3 and won Shippensburg's only PSAC championship in school history.
Junior
Kristina Taylor opened the scoring on Saturday at the 6:29 mark with her 14th goal of the season off an assist by junior
Katie Pufnock. Senior
Amanda Strous widened the gap to 2-0 with a goal of her own at the 15:47 mark.
Strous was feted before the game as one of Shippensburg's three seniors along with
Kristen Brooks and
Emily Fulton. The trio has combined for 199 career games during its tenure.
By halftime, SU had recorded a 21-0 advantage in shots and 5-0 lead on the scoreboard. Contributing first-half tallies were sophomore

SU has now won 17 consecutive matches in PSAC Western Division play dating back to Oct. 8, 2008. In 2010, the Lady Raiders have outscored their divisional opponents by a 30-3 margin.
