SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The No. 1 Shippensburg University field hockey team improved its effort on Saturday afternoon in a rain-soaked PSAC Western Division clash with Mansfield from Robb Sports Complex as nine different players recorded a point in a convincing 7-1 victory over the Mountaineers.
Sophomore
Kristina Taylor scored twice and registered an assist to pace the offensive attack. Senior
Laura Wylde opened the scoring less than four minutes into the contest and a goal from senior
Mariah Wooters at the 12:41 mark proved to be the game-winner.
Senior
Amanda Houser was once again stout between the cage, making five saves to earn the victory. Junior
Emily Fulton also had a defensive save in the match.
Taylor continued the first half assault for Shippensburg with a nifty deflection for a goal at the 21:45 mark off the initial shot from Fulton. Freshman
Sam Langone closed out the first-half scoring with her sixth goal of the season at the 23:59 mark off an assist from freshman
Ashley Taylor.
Mansfield (2-8, 0-4 PSAC West), a squad that on four occasions this season had tallied five or more goals in a game, countered with its first goal of the game at the 31:15 mark to make the halftime margin 4-1 in favor of the host Lady Raiders.

Jamie Doughty and Taylor added second-half tallies to bring the final scoring margin to 7-1. Freshman
Jordyn Beam assisted on Doughty's goal. Overall, the Lady Raiders recorded a 33-12 advantage in shots to go along with 11 penalty corners.
Shippensburg will return to action with its biggest game of the season Tuesday, as the No. 1 Lady Raiders will travel to face the No. 2 Bloomsburg Huskies at 4 p.m. from Sports Stadium.
