SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University men's basketball team compiled a positive assist-to-turnover ratio for the sixth time this season and had six players score at least eight points but it was not enough as the Raiders completed the regular season with a 70-61 loss to Cheyney on Saturday afternoon from Heiges Field House.

Shippensburg (12-15, 4-10 PSAC East) battled the Wolves and remained right with there opponents in the second half. The Raiders trailed by 10 points at intermission but embarked upon a 13-3 run midway through the second half that brought the score to 48-46 with 10 minutes to play.

After a missed three pointer for the Raiders, the Wolves re-captured the momentum with back-to-back three-pointers in transition and advanced their lead to as many as 13 points down the stretch.

Junior forward Daziah Miller and red-shirt freshman guard Lamar Drayton each led Shippensburg with 13 points, while red-shirt junior center Derrick Graff had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Sophomore guard Jaren Gembe replaced starting junior guard Stephon Draper and had eight points and six assists in 34 minutes off the bench. Sophomore guard Justin Minter finished with nine points, five rebounds and two blocks.

Cheyney (17-8, 10-4 PSAC East), the No. 2 seed from the Eastern Division for the upcoming PSAC Men's Basketball Tournament, received another outstanding performance from Dominique Curry with 18 points and 11 rebounds that included an athletic slam dunk that sealed the victory late.

Graduate guard Ryan Kraft completed a stellar Red Raider career just 14 points short of 1,000. In 105 career games, Kraft hit 192 three-pointers, just 10 short of the all-time school record of Matt Markle (1988-92). Kraft was the PSAC Western Division Rookie of the Year for the 2004-05 season.

Also playing in his final game for the Red Raiders was senior Brett Malikowski, who attempted a three-pointer in the final minute. Malikowski competed in 11 games over the past two seasons for Shippensburg.
