FAIRBANKS, Ak. - Senior Theresa Simcic won her second individual event in two days and the 200-yard freestyle relay team earned a victory as the Shippensburg women's swimming team concluded their trip to Alaska with the second meet against the Nanooks of Alaska-Fairbanks.

Shippensburg (2-8) dropped a 121-84 decision to the Nanooks on Saturday afternoon (Alaska time) from the pool inside the Patty Center at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks but continued to perform extremely well against one of the stronger programs in Division II.

Simcic, who won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.95 seconds on Friday, aced the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday with a time of 56.07 seconds. Her performance edged UAF's Jacqueline Van Driessche by 0.13 seconds.

She also finished the final leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished first with a time of 1:43.32. Simcic was once again flanked by junior Whitney Garner, freshman Nicole Capozzi and senior Mandi Foltz.

Shippensburg has concluded its regular season dual meet schedule and will now have three weeks to prepare for the 2009 PSAC Swimming Championships, hosted once again by the Raiders at Cumberland Valley High School. The four-day tournament will be held from Thursday, February 19 through Sunday, February 22.
