CLARION, Pa. – Senior Shane Wolter and freshman Eric Naylor combined for five first-place finishes on Saturday in a dual meet at Clarion to lead the Red Raider swim team with another solid performance early in the season.

The Golden Eagles won the dual meet by a 170-123 score, but the margin between the two teams was a lot closer considering 32 of those points were associated with Clarion's diving, an activity in which Shippensburg does not compete.

Wolter impressed in two distance freestyle events, winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:48.36 and the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:02.28. He additionally thrived in the 400-yard individual medley, posting a winning time of 4:22.40.

Naylor continued to impress during his debut season with a pair of victories. The freshman finished first in the 100-yard backstroke event with a time of 54.53 seconds and then went on to win the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.98. He won the shorter flight by over one full second.

Additionally, sophomore Richard Deley finished first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.29. Naylor earned a runner-up spot in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 54.35 seconds.

Sophomore Evan Manning finished second in two events, completing the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.22 and the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:17.88. Senior Drew Hagerich finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:13.14.

In terms of relays, the 200-yard medley squad of sophomore Joe Keefe, Naylor, junior Derek Yeager, and senior Nate Ryan finished second with a time of 1:40.21.

The Red Raiders will not be in formal competition this week but will be practicing for one of its most important meets before the PSAC Championships next year. Shippensburg will next be in action on Friday, November 20 through Sunday, November 22 at the Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason University.
