LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Shippensburg University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision on Friday evening to California (Pa.) in the PSAC semifinals from neutral-site Lock Haven to conclude its regular season as a member of the conference's final four in back-to-back seasons. Set scores were 25-20, 25-8, 25-19.
Shippensburg (15-19) was paced by senior middle blocker
Kali Antolik, who totaled a team-high eight kills while hitting .231 and totaling two solo blocks. Senior outside hitter
Hannah Sorber had five kills and hit .308, while freshman setter
Andrea Heimsoth had 22 assists.
The loss marked the final games in the careers of five seniors: Antolik, Sorber,
Colleen Toomey,
Jackie Tuccio and
Melanie Fries.
Antolik established a new school record for block assists and ranks among the university's top five for career kills as a four-year middle hitter while Toomey finishes her career ranked second in school history for kills and one of just four members of the 1,000 kills/1,000 digs club.
Sorber led the team in kills this season and ranks second in school history behind Antolik for block assists. Tuccio and Fries have been defensive specialists for Shippensburg during their four-year careers.
