KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The third time was the charm for the Shippensburg University volleyball team on Tuesday night from Keystone Hall, as the Lady Raiders earned a 3-1 victory over the Golden Bears of Kutztown and advanced to the PSAC Semifinals to be held on Friday at Lock Haven.

Shippensburg (15-18) won the opening set 26-24 before dropping the second set, 25-20. The Lady Raiders enhanced their play in the third set to earn a 25-19 victory and take a 2-1 lead, but the team's best rally came in the fourth set. Trailing 19-13, Shippensburg won 12 of the final 16 points to take the final set 25-23 and win on the road in the PSAC Quarterfinals for the second consecutive year.

Kutztown (16-13) had won both regular season meetings over the Lady Raiders in straight sets, including a match last Friday from Heiges Field House.

Lock Haven earned the right to host the championships this weekend as the highest remaining Eastern Division seed. The Bald Eagles dispatched West Chester on Tuesday night in three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-16 and 25-11.

Shippensburg will next face the Vulcans of California (Pa.), the top seed in the Western Division. The Vulcans defeated Gannon in four sets on Tuesday night to set up Friday's semifinal pairing.

According to Lock Haven, Friday's scheduled contest between Shippensburg and California (Pa.) is set to begin at 5 p.m.
