SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Shippensburg University volleyball extended its winning streak to four matches with a pair of 3-0 victories on Saturday afternoon from the Butcher Athletic Center. SU defeated WVIAC opponent Ohio Valley in a neutral-site match before defeating host Shepherd.
Shippensburg (12-16) easily dispatched of the Fighting Scots in the opening match by set scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-16. Seniors
Hannah Sorber and
Kali Antolik were both solid on offense, combining for 21 kills and each posting hitting percentages above .500. Freshman
Jenny Pry also added nine kills while the team hit .372 for the match, and freshman setter
Andrea Heimsoth totaled 39 assists.
The Lady Raiders faced a stronger opponent in their second match but closed the final two sets well and defeated the host Rams by set scores of 25-17, 26-24 and 26-24. Sorber led the team with 17 kills with just two errors while Antolik hit .520 to lead the team on 14 kills. Heimsoth totaled 51 assists while Pry had eight kills and eight digs.
Shippensburg returns to action net Friday with a crucial PSAC Eastern Division match at East Stroudsburg that will begin at 7 p.m.
