BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University women's soccer team could not come away with a victory in a crucial PSAC Eastern Division road match on Saturday afternoon in mostly less than favorable conditions at Sports Stadium, dropping a 3-1 decision to Bloomsburg.

Shippensburg (5-8-3, 2-5-3 PSAC East) relinquished two first half goals to the Huskies and could not pull even with Bloomsburg in the second half. Bloomsburg's Kelly Modes scored at the 24 minute mark off an assist from Kristine Preski and Eileen Alexander added the eventual game-winner from a Shannon Andersen assist.

Sophomore Cassie Armold pulled the Lady Raiders within a goal 10 minutes into the second half on an unassisted scoring play. Shippensburg applied pressure late and allowed a late Bloomsburg goal with just two minutes to play from Lauren Stedman.

Bloomsburg (5-7-3, 3-4-2 PSAC East) outshot Shippensburg 12-6 throughout the game. The Bloomsburg defense did not allow a shot in the first half. SU graduate goalkeeper Beth Long added three saves to her season total in the loss.

The loss to Bloomsburg distances the Lady Raiders from fourth place in the PSAC Eastern Division and a chance at a PSAC playoff berth. The top four teams in each division make the playoffs.

Shippensburg returns to action on Wednesday at 3 p.m. with a PSAC crossover contest at Mansfield.
