Lady Raider Field Hockey Remains Unbeaten In Divisional Play After 5-0 Win Over Slippery Rock

Taylor records two goals; Wylde, Strous and Doughty also score goals

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Sophomore forward Kristina Taylor recorded two goals in a game for the fifth time this season as the Lady Raider field hockey team rebounded on Friday afternoon from N. Kerr Thompson Stadium with a 5-0 Western Division victory over Slippery Rock.

Shippensburg (12-1, 5-0 PSAC West) raced out to a 4-0 lead at halftime and limited The Rock to just five total shots in the game. Senior Laura Wylde opened the scoring at 10:19 off an assist from Taylor. After her assist, the sophomore forward started a stretch of three goals in 10 minutes, recording the second goal of the game off an assist from junior Amanda Strous.

Strous scored the game's third goal off an assist from Taylor, who in turn went on to score the game's fourth goal unassisted. Senior Jamie Doughty rounded out the scoring at the 46:32 mark in the second half off an assist from senior Kim Tully.

Shippensburg recorded an 18-5 advantage in shots and totaled six penalty corners in the contest. Senior goaltender Amanda Houser made one save and teamed with sophomore Alyssa Stefanadis, who also made one save, to record Shippensburg's eighth shutout of the season.

The Lady Raiders return to action on Monday at 4 p.m. with a home match against Kutztown.
