Lady Raider Swimming Impresses With 106-93 Victory Over Division I Opponent Drexel

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -
Senior Whitney Garner continued her excellence by winning two individual events on Sunday afternoon from the Donald N. Miller Pool as the Shippensburg University women's swimming put forth an outstanding performance in a 106-93 victory over Division I opponent Drexel.

Shippensburg (1-1) and its impressive performance also marked the first head coaching victory for Erin Goodhart '04, whose Lady Raider squad improved numerous times from the season-opening meet two weeks ago.

Garner had an impressive swim in the 200-yard IM, winning the event by more than two seconds with a time of 2:14.90. In her next event, Garner also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.63 seconds and finished all three of her main events with victories.

In addition to her two individual victories, Garner teamed up with junior Steph Mariani, freshman Julia Brownrigg and junior Amy Fisher to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:53.41.

Brownrigg also earned an individual victory in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.16, while fellow newcomer Kara Keenan won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:50.97.

Junior Amy Fisher won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.09 while sophomore Nicole Capozzi wins the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.66 seconds.

Shippensburg will have another home meet at 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 29 when the Raiders host Canisius from the Donald N. Miller pool.
