SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg men's soccer team opened conference play by out-shooting Kutztown 15-14 but the group was unable to connect for a decisive goal, as the Red Raiders fell 1-0 to the Golden Bears on Wednesday night at David See Field.

Shippensburg (0-1-1, 0-1 PSAC East) had some offensive chances in the second half, as senior forward Brad Anderson finished with two shots on goal, but Golden Bear goalkeeper Matt Fredericks made four saves for his first career shutout. Red-shirt senior Brad Patke made six saves in the loss for Shippensburg.

Kutztown (1-2, 1-0 PSAC East) recorded the only goal of the game in the 29th minute, when a pass from James Robinson found the foot of Rusty Chapel, who finished a breakaway by sending a ball past a diving Patke and into the net that gave Kutztown the ultimate margin of victory.

The Red Raiders will travel to Bloomsburg this Saturday for a 3 p.m. matchup with the Huskies.
