CALIFORNIA, Pa. - The Shippensburg University volleyball team opened up play at the California (Pa.) Tournament on Friday night with a 3-0 loss at the hands of homestanding Vulcans, a team ranked No. 13 in the nation. The Lady Raiders dropped the match by game scores of 25-20, 25-8 and 25-17.
Defensively, senior
Kelsi Hoffman inched closer to the school record for career digs by a libero with 11 digs on Friday night. Freshman
Caitlin Marshall continued her strong play with five digs while adding five kills on offense with just two errors.
Junior
Colleen Toomey led the offensive attack with nine kills on four errors along with nine digs. Junior
Kali Antolik added three kills for the Lady Raiders.
Shippensburg (10-8) will continue its participation at the California (Pa.) Tournament with two challenging contests on Saturday. The Lady Raiders have a 10 a.m. matchup with the No. 24 ranked Greyhounds of Indianapolis, who handed the Vulcans their first loss of the season earlier on Friday in four sets. At 4 p.m., Shippensburg will take on PSAC Western Division opponent Mercyhurst.
