Kim Davies scored two goals for the second consecutive day while junior
Amanda Houser recorded the second shutout of her career as the No. 4-ranked Shippensburg field hockey team improved to 2-0 on the young season by blanking No. 6 Bentley, 3-0 on Sunday morning at Jess Dow Field.
Playing against a school that advanced to the National Championship game just two years ago, Shippensburg was able to record a 19-5 advantage in shots and a 12-3 advantage in penalty corners. Houser made all five of her saves in the second half to preserve the Lady Raider victory.
Davies opened the scoring in the 27th minute by ripping a pass from freshman
Kristina Taylor into the back of the cage to give the Lady Raiders a 1-0 lead. She added another goal in the second half off an assist from junior
Kim Tully to bring her scoring total to four through two games.
Sophomore
Laura Wylde rounded out the scoring off an assist from senior
Dani Haas in the 58th minute. Haas finished the weekend with a goal and two assists.
Shippensburg will return to action on Saturday when it travels to East Stroudsburg for a 1 p.m. PSAC crossover match with the Warriors.
