Lady Raider Volleyball Defeats East Stroudsburg On Senior Night In Home Finale, 3-0

Shippensburg has solidified the No. 3 spot in the PSAC East

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -
Senior Karey Toms ripped a kill to cap off a 3-0 victory for the Shippensburg women's volleyball team on Tuesday night inside Heiges Field House over the Warriors of East Stroudsburg. The Lady Raiders won the Senior Night match by scores of 25-14, 25-18, 25-19.

After clinching a playoff berth this past Saturday with a 3-2 victory over Kutztown, tonight's victory solidified the No. 3 spot from the PSAC Eastern Division for the Lady Raiders in the 2008 PSAC Volleyball Tournament. Shippensburg finished its home schedule with a 7-3 record.

Junior Colleen Toomey led the Lady Raiders with 13 kills and no errors. Junior Kali Antolik had a strong performance which included nine kills and a block assist. Junior Hannah Sorber recorded six kills and two solo blocks.

Senior Maureen DuVall was also honored Tuesday night and played well, recording 31 assists and four kills with no errors. Libero Kelsi Hoffman played in her final home game and totaled 16 digs with one service ace.

Shippensburg (20-15, 7-4 PSAC East) trailed 13-11 in the first game before freshman Caitlin Marshall revitalized the Lady Raiders with her serve. The team recorded 13 consecutive points on Marshall's serve to take a 24-13 lead before ultimately closing the first set with a kill from Toomey.

The early momentum was continued throughout the match, as Toomey and Sorber each ripped four kills in the second set to help pace the Lady Raider attack. Shippensburg committed just 13 hitting errors in the contest and hit a solid .289 from the court in one of its best performances of the season.

The Lady Raiders will conclude their season on Saturday from West Chester with a PSAC Eastern Division contest with the Golden Rams that is set to begin at 1 p.m.
