GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University field hockey team recorded a season-high nine goals in a convincing defeat of Seton Hill on Friday afternoon. The 9-1 victory for the Lady Raiders was highlighted by three goals from senior Kim Davies, who now ranks second in school history for goals in a season with 24.

Shippensburg (16-3) opened the scoring by setting a new school record for the fastest time between two goals. Senior Natalie Faith gave Shippensburg a 1-0 lead with her sixth goal of the season at 2:16 off an assist from Davies, and just seven seconds later Davies scored off an assist from Faith.

The previous school record was set in 2004, when when Watt and Erica Jolene scored two goals in 10 seconds against Slippery Rock.

Seton Hill (6-12) scored a goal to bring the score to 2-1 but the Lady Raiders cruised following the tally. Senior Dani Haas scored off an assist from Faith and and Davies followed with a goal that was assisted by senior Carolyn Swift. Just 6:37 into the game, the Lady Raiders already held a 4-1 lead.

With 90 seconds left in the first half, junior Laura Wylde scored her ninth goal of the season with an assist from sophomore Mariah Wooters. Shippensburg earned second-half goals from junior Jamie Doughty and sophomores Amanda Strous and Kelly Whittemore.

Faith finished with a goal and three assists, while Haas and Strous finished with multiple points. Davies finished with nine points and has scored five goals in two games this week.

With 24 goals this season, Davies is just the third different player in school history to total at least 20 goals in a season. Ashley Watt holds the school record with 30 goals in the 2005 season and also scored 22 goals in 2004 and 20 goals in 2006. Carli Bordner scored 20 goals for Shippensburg in 2003.
